Komplizen Film was founded in 2000 by Janine Jackowski and Maren Ade while they were studying at the Munich Academy for Film and Television. They are both CEOs and producers. In 2010 Jonas Dornbach, who had previously worked as a line producer for "Everyone Else", joined them as a producer. Zsuzsanna Kiràly has been working as a production coordinator at Komplizen Film since 2009.
The main focus of Komplizen Film is to develop art house films and international co-productions and to endorse German directors and help them establish a standing in Germany as well as on a European level.
